Applications Open for EarthRights Mekong School

What's New | Environment

EarthRights Mekong School is now accepting applications for its seven month training program from activists around the Mekong Region whose work specialises in environmental issues and civil society.

This years' program will focus on dam projects, water issues, and international financial institutions (IFIs), and will equip participants with the relevant skills, knowledge and experience to campaign for the environment and human rights through experiential learning methods. The training will take place in Chiang Mai, Thailand from June to December 2008.

The structure of the programme will see students attending workshops on topics like environmental and human rights law, research methodology and international advocacy. Then, they will return to their home countries to undertake a field project. The program will culminate in a two-month session focusing on media messaging, advocacy and campaign planning back in Chiang Mai.

Housing, transportation and a modest living stipend will be provided to successful candidates. The deadline for applications is Mar. 10, 2008. For more information, please visit http://www.earthrights.org/training/ or contact the Mekong School Coordinator at mekong@earthrights.org.
