VIETNAM: Border Deal Makes Visit Historic - Cambodian PM
Vietnam and Cambodia’s signing of a supplementary deal to the 1985 border treaty during Prime Minister Hun Sen’s Vietnam visit has made his trip a “historical event,” Hun Sen said in a banquet in Hanoi in October.
The event would help boost friendship, peace and cooperation along the countries’ common border, the Cambodian leader said in the banquet, which Prime Minister Phan Van Khai held in honour of his guest.
Apart from the supplementary agreement, six other bilateral cooperation documents were signed.
Hun Sen said he believed that after the signing of the treaty, the two countries would find the best solutions to resolve the outstanding issues in the spirit of friendship, neighbourliness, and time-honored and long-term cooperation between the two peoples. (Than Nien News, Oct. 11, 2005)
