VIETNAM: Mekong Festival Good for Tourism
HANOI - The Second Mekong Festival that opened in the southern province of An Giang on Feb. 23 highlights the tourism potential of Cambodia and Vietnam, officials say.
Mr Nguyen Van Dam, vice president of the provincial People's Committee, said: "This is the second time the festival has been held in the Mekong Delta, with the participation of 13 provinces and cities in the region. The festival focuses on the contents: art performances, fairs and exhibitions, and seminars."
In addition, the festival attracts the participation of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Cambodia Tourism Ministry.
Through the festival, tourism co-operation among provinces nationwide and countries in sub-Mekong region, including Cambodia, Laos and Thailand will be established, creating chances for the development of tourism industry in the whole region.
